The COVID-19 pandemic is still giving rise to a lot of concern worldwide. No one knows how bad it will get again or how long it will be until the virus finally gets under control. While there are no guarantees when it comes to avoiding this virus, there are some things that you can do to help increase your chances of staying healthy.

Below are five natural ways to avoid getting COVID-19.

Raise Your Vitamin C Consumption

Vitamin C is one of the vitamins your body needs. It has many beneficial properties and can help to boost your immune system when you get sick. It helps white blood cells function correctly, so it’s vital in fighting infections like colds and flu viruses.

Vitamin C also reduces the severity and duration of symptoms if you do get sick, so it’s essential to take enough every day. To raise your vitamin C levels, look for foods rich in this vitamin, such as citrus fruits like oranges or lemons, tomatoes, and leafy greens like spinach or kale. If you’re not getting enough from diet alone, consider taking a supplement with at least 1000mg per day. This should be enough for most people without any adverse side effects.

Hydrate

Drink plenty of water to help flush toxins out of your body. It’s essential that you drink eight glasses of water per day. Water helps regulate temperature, which is essential for fighting off infections like colds or flu viruses, and it also helps keep your digestive system functioning correctly.

If you don’t like drinking plain water, try adding fresh fruit slices such as lemon or lime to add flavor without the added artificial sugar content. You can also make ice cubes with herbs like mint leaves in them, so there’s always something extra refreshing every time you take a sip from your glass.

Consider Cannabinoids

There are substances found in the cannabis plant that has been shown to boost the immune system. These cannabinoids are cannabidiolic acid (CBDa) and cannabigerolic acid (CBGa). There has been some debate around the different benefits of cbga vs cbda, but recent studies have shown that CBGa and CBDa both may have protective properties against COVID-19 because they can attach to the spike protein of SARS-CoV-2.

This binding interferes with the ability of the virus to attach itself to human cells and infect them. It is a fascinating discovery because it means that cannabis could potentially be used to treat COVID-19 patients and may save lives.


Get Plenty of Restful Sleep

Sleep is crucial for your overall well-being. It’s advised that adults get at least eight hours of uninterrupted sleep per night. Getting enough sleep reduces stress levels in your body by lowering cortisol hormone production. It also assists the immune system fight off infections like colds and flu viruses.

Sleep deprivation makes your body to be unable to fend off invaders and it may also take you longer to recover from illness. Long-term effects of sleep deprivation increase your risk for chronic conditions, such as diabetes mellitus and heart disease. So make sure you’re getting enough sleep every night and you hold a consistent sleeping pattern every day.

Practice Good Hygiene

Hygiene is attained by washing your hands for 20 seconds with soap and water. If you don’t have access to sinks, use alcohol-based hand sanitizers containing at least 60% alcohol. Avoid touching your face too often since germs can be easily transferred from your fingertips onto any surface like a doorknob or countertop, where they could stay alive long enough to infect someone else if they touched it afterward.

Always wear a face mask when you’re in public places like airports, subways, or other crowded areas. The mask should be worn correctly and fit snugly to your face so that no air escapes around the edges. Masks can also help protect others if you are already showing symptoms of COVID-19 by trapping droplets from sneezing or coughing, which could contain the virus.
