3 Ways To Maximize Space At Your Dental Office

You do not necessarily need ample dental office space to achieve your objectives. All you need is to make use of most of the area in your office.

Accessibility and functionality.

A dental office should feel more than just a medical office; it should provide comfort and ease of home for your patients. The office should clean and organized. That makes the patients feel welcome and comfortable, especially at their difficult times.

It is essential to put more considerations into designing and constructing the most trafficked areas in a medical office. These trafficked areas should be more accessible and functional. For a dental office, it is advisable to get an experienced construction firm that will focus on your satisfaction to give a well-designed functioning dental office and treatment area. For instance, at Liberty dental construction, you get all the contractors required to handle the whole construction process from design to implementation.

Here are three tips to maximize space at your dental office to improve patient care:

1. Identify time-wasting activities

Spend a week or even several days tracking the amount of time you and your staff waste doing tasks such as looking for patient files, locating different supplies and equipment, or delivering information and receiving orders. Discuss your findings with your staff and brainstorm to develop practical strategies for making sure less time is used to locate files, supplies, and equipment. For instance, to keep your team members out of the hallways, introduce a streamlined communication system where they can receive updates and ask questions without moving around. You can also decide to rearrange the patient files in a specific manner for easy retrieval. If locating the supplies is a problem, you can consider storing all the supplies and equipment in a centralized position to ensure accessibility to every authorized staff.

2. Always clean the clutter

In an office with staff and busy practice, clutter tends to build up quickly, reducing efficiency and effectiveness at your workplace. Clutter may lead to accidents and cause harm to your patients. Based on a Japanese visual management technique, there are five systematic ways to create order in your office to meet your clients’ needs.

The five steps that will help you manage and reduce clutter in your office are.

• Sort out the equipment you need in your clinical and office area.

• Set them in order depending on how many times you use the supplies in a day.

• Organize and clean up your work area.

• Standardize: create a set of standards for you and your staff to follow to ensure clutter reduction.

• Sustain a clean and organized office.

3. Prioritize comfort for everyone.

In a medical office, comfort is key for you, your staff, and most importantly, your clients. Creating a more supportive and conducive work environment for you and your staff will maximize productivity and efficient service delivery. One way to keep your staff comfortable and focused is to provide an organized and safe space to keep their items away from their areas of practice. Ensure that the offices are well-lit and windows can open for the circulation of fresh air.

Consider purchasing a piece of dental equipment that is light in weight and more maneuverable so that you can store it when you are not using it.

Maximizing space in your dental office is the first step of improving the productivity of your work. That is why it is crucial to get a construction team that will ensure the quality of every element in your space will match the type of care you intend to provide to your clients. Organizing the dental office and enhancing cleanliness creates a good impression of the dental services offered.
