Drawing is an exceptional communication tool where individuals use art to communicate. Some careers like being an artist, a cartoonist, or a graphic designer heavily rely on it. If you are attracted to conveying messages through drawing, some professions that will interest you are discussed below.

Graphic Designer

Graphic designers create visual elements for clothing, logos, signs, websites, and print media. They often work in advertising agencies, public relations, marketing firms, and other businesses that deal with visual materials. Graphic designers need to have an artistic talent for drawing and excellent computer users.

The following steps illustrate the tasks involved in graphic design:

1. Brainstorming

2. Developing a concept

3. Development of ideas into tangible form through sketches, drawings, storyboards, and mockups

4. Presentation of candidates to the client and final selection

5. “Slicing,” which is feedback from the client.

6. Distribution

Multimedia Artist and Designer

The work of a multimedia artist and designer varies depending on their primary areas of expertise. One may be in video, web design, multimedia installation, and TV or film production.

A multimedia artist is often called upon to create original artwork, oversee design development, and source all visual materials for a project. They also work closely with the production team on scriptwriting, animation, technical, and lighting requirements.

As a multimedia artist and designer, you use a computer or portable drawing tablet to create programs, games, and movies, and attaining computer expertise is usually accomplished through a relevant bachelor’s degree including, but not limited to, computer graphics and animation. You can enjoy this creative field with your talent in art and willingness to bring your ideas to life using it.

Interior Designer

Interior designers are responsible for designing spaces where people live, work, or visit. They sketch room layouts and produce usable indoor spaces aided by AutoCAD, SketchUp, and Photoshop. They are self-employed or work for businesses that design and supply furniture or transform spaces.

If you love using your artistic talent to decorate homes or offices, an interior design career may be just what you are in search of. Some skills valuable to an interior designer would be the following:

1. Ability to use computer programs such as AutoCAD, Photoshop, and SketchUp 3D software

2. Excellent knowledge of environment decoration principles regarding color schemes, styles, and materials used

3. The ability to work with clients and understand their tastes and requirements

4. Drawing skills. They are needed to explain the purposes of various pieces of furniture, fittings, or decorative objects or to sketch a layout for the designer’s client

Art Therapist

Art therapy is a form of psychotherapy using art materials and works with individuals or groups depending on the illness or condition the person is suffering from. Art therapists apply drawing, painting, and mosaic-making techniques. This encourages people to express themselves freely and learn about emotions and self-expression. It is taught in art therapy schools and vocational training institutes.

This career requires drawing and interpersonal skills to counsel your clients successfully. It is practiced in rehabilitation units, wellness centers, schools, research facilities, and hospitals.

Architect

An architect is a professional who helps design and build buildings. Architects’ primary focus is designing the physical form of buildings and large-scale projects such as industrial complexes, stadiums, airports, and office blocks. They possess an artistic ability for drawing and should be good computer users because most jobs require a lot of computer work.

They use architectural drawings to communicate plans to clients or potential building sites or even for their reference when making sketches at their workplace. To attain this career, you need to hold either a bachelor’s degree in architecture, which takes five years to earn, or have another undergraduate degree plus a master’s in architecture. To get employed in an architectural firm, you will sit for a licensing exam and go through a three-year internship.

Conclusion

Drawing is an essential part of many fields, and knowing these five occupations that require promising drawing talents can help you choose a career that fits you. The most important thing to remember if you want to become a successful artist is to develop your skills while studying. Learn new techniques and improve your skill by studying books and taking art classes.
