Terrifying Trailer For Stephen King’s The Mist is A Bloody Mess

“Few things are more beautiful than destruction.”

Spike has released the second trailer for its TV adaptation of Stephen King’s horror novella The Mist. The first one set the creepy tone of The Mist but this one boldly shows the true horrors behind the mist of the series. Don’t expect this to be as soft as the 2007 film adaptation. This trailer suggests there’s going to be a lot of horrifying images full of blood and extreme violence. I doubt they’ll show something too brutal for television though but this almost reminds me of Silent Hill. Watch the trailer below:

When EW previously asked showrunner Christian Thorpe about his vision for the story, he explains:

“I wanted to be respectful to the source material, but my feeling was there was already a great adaptation out there by Frank Darabont. The novella is 200 pages and one location, and we needed to change that to make an ongoing series. But we wanted to remain faithful to the heart of the story.

“We establish different little pressure cookers under the influence of whoever the leader would be in those locations. Each of them come up with different theories or beliefs about what’s going on. Eventually, the story lines will dovetail and turn into conflicts.

“Unfortunately, I thought it was incredibly timely to do a show about what people do when they are blinded by fear. We look around at what’s going on in the world, and everyone is constantly looking for someone to blame, or someone to lead them to the promised land. They find people to hate, either because of their gender or race or faith. Those are elements we tap into — how fear drives things like misogyny and homophobia.”

THE MIST centers around a small town family that is torn apart by a brutal crime. As they deal with the fallout an eerie mist rolls in, suddenly cutting them off from the rest of the world and, in some cases, each other. Family, friends and adversaries become strange bedfellows, battling the mysterious mist and its threats, fighting to maintain morality and sanity as the rules of society break down.

The Mist stars Morgan Spector, Alyssa Sutherland, Luke Cosgrove, Darren Pettie, Russell Posner, Dan Butler, Isiah Washington, Jr.,  Gus Birney, Danica Curcic, Okezie Morro,  and Frances Conroy.

The series will premiere on Thursday June 22, on Spike.
