Lindsey Partridge was travelling on a shoestring when she rolled into Kentucky for the Retired Racehorse Project Thoroughbred Makeover in which her horse, Blizz, was competing in the Field Hunter category.
On checking into Super 8 Motel in Georgetown, she overheard the conversation taking place in front of her and noted a minimal $10 pet charge for another customer’s dog and used this as an opportunity to bring her companion Blizz in for the night. She asked the clerk if they’d allow Blizz into her room, given his docile temperament, and unbelievably the clerk said “Aw, I wouldn’t mind. You could do that.”
Partridge went outside and collected Blizz, the whole encounter caught on camera. The next scene shows Blizz in his room, relaxing ahead of his big competition.

Ultimately, Partridge took Blizz back out and took him to the Kentucky Horse Park, where there were actual stables to house him.
Partridge is known as Canada’s Horse Whisperer and wanted to use the stunt as an opportunity to show off how well-behaved horses can be with the right training, particularly ex-racehorses who are “often stereotyped for being crazy and hotheaded and unruly”.
