Some days we just need a little reminder of how special life is. We can feel down at times and take life for granted. But never forget that it can be taken away in an instant. That’s what Tommie Harris wants you all to know.
Ahead of the Super Bowl, former NFL player Tommy Harris gave a tear-jerking and inspirational speech during the Super Bowl Gospel Celebration.
Tommie joked that he only had a brief moment of time to talk to the crowd. Or as his father would put it, he had “enough time to make a sandwich” but Tommie wish he had enough time to “speak a meal”.
Tommie Harris talked about the heartbreaking story of losing his wife
It wasn’t Harris’ first time attending the Super Bowl Gospel Celebration. He talks about the time he and his late wife were at the event in 2012:
Me and her [his wife] were sitting here, and I was watching a man come up there also and talk about how he lost his wife. And as I was sitting there in the audience, I was only married for 30 days at that moment. And I didn’t know 11 days later, I would lose my wife.
Tommie’s wife, Ashley, died of a brain aneurysm only 41 days after the couple got married. Tommie Harris explained in The Players’ Tribune that she had gone in for a routine breast reduction surgery and suffered a brain aneurysm while recovering.
Tommie Harris was left in a heartbreaking situation. But he wants to remind people to live every day to the fullest, and his wise words will hit home for everyone. Life is a gift that we should never take for granted.
