Kya and Matt Debono were a blissfully happy couple with two beautiful children, planning their wedding day. But when tragedy suddenly struck their family, their dream wedding was off the table and it seemed like it would be a long time before they could become husband and wife.
The young family had struggled for money, with Matt being unemployed, but when Kya’s mother suddenly died in 2012, their wedding had to be postponed indefinitely. The couple worried that they may never have the wedding day they longed for.
Knowing how much her dream wedding meant to her, and knowing how much emotional turmoil Kya had been through since her mother’s passing, Matt decided to take matters into his own hands.
Radio station KIIS 1065’s Kyle & Jackie O received an email from Matt a month ago explaining their predicament. He wanted to be able to surprise the woman he loved with the wedding that she deserved and the team at KIIS 1065 decided to make it happen.
Kyle and Jackie O invited the couple onto the radio show, convincing them that it was a new radio segment they would be a part of. But live on air, they surprised the couple by revealing, that thanks to the Sydney Bridal Expo, they would be getting the wedding of their dreams worth $80,000.
The big day came and the couple didn’t want for anything; it was perfect. Then it came to time for their first dance. Knowing that the couple had chosen Ed Sheeran’s song ‘Thinking Out Loud’ to dance to, the radio hosts had one final surprise for the bewildered couple.
Introducing their wedding singer, the real life Ed Sheeran walked out on stage and began to perform a live acoustic version of their favorite song while they danced for the first time as husband and wife. The moment is truly tear jerking as they bask in their love and happiness to the sound of their favorite artist singing their favorite song.
