THE trailer for Charlie Sheen’s latest film dropped on the weekend — and some are already dubbing the upcoming drama one of the most offensive films of all time.
Sheen plays a man trapped in an elevator inside the north tower of the World Trade Centre on September 11, 2001 in the real-life disaster film. He and the rest of the poor souls trapped inside are in a race to escape before the impending collapse of the towers.

The movie’s obviously low budget and cut-price cast (joining Sheen in the elevator is Showgirls star Gina Gershon as his wife, while Academy Award winner Whoopi Goldberg slums it as the elevator helpline operator) are likely enough to turn off a generation of film goers who are old enough to remember the events of September 11 vividly. The exploitative nature of the trailer — showing the elevator plummet after its cables break — shouldn’t help.
But others have pointed out just how inappropriate it is to have cast Sheen in the film’s leading role, given his longtime stance as a ‘9/11 truther.’ Sheen has been an outspoken advocate for the conspiracy theory that the terrorist attacks were an inside job by the US government.

The former Two and A Half Men star has said that “the official 9/11 story is a fraud” and the attacks were planned by the US government “as the pretext for the systematic dismantling of our Constitution and Bill of Rights.”
Not sure how Sheen’s new role squares up with his beliefs about what happened during the worst terrorist attack on US soil, but a pay cheque’s a pay cheque, right?
The film is set for release on September 8 — but many on social media already seem to have made their minds up:
making a 9/11 movie in 2017 is already bad enough but casting charlie sheen and whoopi goldberg is like asking to be laughed at

If we had to sum up the trailer for this Charlie Sheen '9/11' movie in one word, it would be 'offensive': https://t.co/L6U9SVsUZZ pic.twitter.com/xoL8cndTfN

What's worse; the fact that this movie is about 9/11, or that it stars Charlie Sheen? pic.twitter.com/fY4FHL5Ey4

I watched a trailer for a movie called "9/11" starring Charlie Sheen and it's awful and manipulative and makes me mad at everyone involved.

Cheesy.- Trying too hard to elicit a certain response from the audience; unsubtle, inauthentic.

Seriously, who thought Charlie Sheen in a movie about 9/11 was a good idea?
